History of the Graham Reunion

The Graham Reunion is an annual get-together of the descendants of Allan Graham and Sarah Holler. It is held each summer, usually in August.

The first Graham Reunion was held in 1935, the year after the death of Sarah Holler. Sarah Holler was the wife of Allan Graham and they were the parents of ten children: John Holler Graham, Floyd Fleming Graham, Reba May Graham (Shiring), Ruth Leota Graham (Salton), Grayce Leona Graham (Weaver), Oliver Perry Graham, Allan Graham Jr., Sarah Louise Graham (Wainwright), Harry Elwood Graham, and George Warren Graham. The children decided that they would have a Reunion each year and that the responsibility for the Reunion would be rotated from the oldest to the youngest of the children, starting with John.

Traditionally the person in charge each year has had the following responsibilities: choose the date and location of the Reunion, notify all family members, provide games / entertainment, make a fire and set up the old blue coffee pot, and see that all present sign the roster.

Each of the ten children of Allan Graham and Sarah Holler married and had children, so that there were 34 grandchildren and eventually great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. The children of each of the deceased original Grahams have carried on the tradition of managing the Reunion when it is their family's turn. The descendants of Allan Graham and Sarah Holler are now spread across the United States, and many travel great distances to attend the annual Graham Reunion.

The Reunion has been held in various places over the years including locations in Pennsylvania, Maryland, Rhode Island, New York, Virginia, Illinois, and Tennessee. The most frequently chosen site has been Shawnee State Park which is in Bedford County Pennsylvania, not too far from Sarah Holler's birthplace.
